Train Ride

Katherine has wanted to go on the train since we arrived in Calgary. I have postponed this excursion as long as possible mainly because the last thing I want to do when it's sub-zero degrees is figure out public transportation. But, since it is no longer -30 degrees here, and it's almost actually nice weather, and since Lauren was at her day home, we decided today would be the day to tackle the train.

We rode the downtown corridor line because it's free and not too long a ride. You can see Katherine is one satisfied customer.

We took the train to the swanky downtown mall, walked around a bit and had lunch. Check out the food court!

Katherine had her favorite meal from Subway, and I had Korean BBQ - both were yummy.

On the way back to our car we felt like seasoned train-riders, except for one minor detail. Apparently, just because the train going westbound stops at 10th Street, doesn't necessarily mean that the eastbound train stops there. But, our mistake meant we were able to enjoy the view over the river and back again.

These Kids Love Dirt

So, I guess when you haven't seen any dirt for 8 months it's sort of a novelty. This past week it's been nice enough to be outside - the weather has ranged from high 50's to even a day of 75! Katherine and Lauren have reacquainted themselves with dirt - they love, love, love digging in it, transferring it, eating it (yuck) and sitting in it. I love that they are so happy outside!
